Vintage Small Copper Bowl Dish Pet Dog Cat

I have a little bowl that I am sure is copper.
It is old and of unknown origin - no makrings.  It was in some stuff from my husband's parents.  It reminds me of a pet food bowl, but I am reasonably sure that wasn't the original use.  It has blemishes - I have not cleaned or polished it at all. I think it would clean up nicely - not perfect perhaps, but nicely.  There is a tiny hole drilled on the rim.  I don't have a clue why that was done.  6" across the bottom, about 1 3/4" tall, 4 1/2" across the bowl.
