Vintage Antique 18kt Arts & Crafts Nouveau Aquamarine Ring Cushion Cut Size 7.5

This is a gorgeous one of a kind vintage antique 18kt Arts & Crafts elongated cushion cut aquamarine ring, The stone is genuine and all natural, with an intense sky blue color. The sides have a lovely leafy foliage design. The aquamarine is a thick large cushion cut. It’s spellbinding. I’ll miss this when it sells!
Since aquamarines, even with this rich blue are often see through since they are so clear, they can have windowing, that leads to being able to see right through the gemstone to the finger when they are large. My friend (a jewelry designer) is brilliant and designed and added a white gold cup to the original antique setting behind the stone that reflects light back into the stone adding to it’s killer sparkle. This is what antique foil backed stones were for way back in time, they used foil to reflect light and color back into the gemstone. However foil backed rings are fragile and foil can come off if you wash your hands or tarnish, etc. so they aren’t great for wearing day to day. So, she designed this ring addition with true solid white gold set behind/under the stone, so smart, all the benefit, none of the fragility!
The aquamarine is 4.5 carats. The visible part of the aquamarine is 12.66mm tall by 8.57mm wide. The ring setting is 15.70mm tall in front and tapers to a band that is 2.26 mm wide in the back. The ring rises 7.48mm up from the finger.
The original setting is 18kt yellow gold, the cup added underneath the gemstone is 18kt white gold. And the ring weighs a substantial but comfortable 6.66 grams. Gold is unmarked but tested and verified.
The ring is a size 7.50 and can be resized by your local jeweler as the back is plain.
Excellent vintage condition. Some minor abrasion to the stone as expected on an antique piece. Not visible to the naked eye, but visible with a loupe/magnification. Gold is in amazing condition.
This ring would make a great engagement ring with a curved wedding ring. Or it’s just awesome as a statement ring or right hand ring.
