    Description

Stamped into the bottom of this pan is: JOS. HEINRICHS PARIS + NEW YORK PURE COPPER STERLING SILVER TAIT’S (see photo). According to an article, “Throughout the 1920s, great food, music and Tait’s unique atmosphere made it, in the words of writer Millie Robbins, THE place to go for socialites and celebrities and those who enjoyed mingling with same.” Due to the Great Depression, Tait’s closed in 1931. This is the rare 8” Heinrichs oval copper fry pan, the smallest of 9 sizes offered by Heinrichs. It is 8” long, without iron handle; 12 1/2” long with handle; 5 1/4” wide; and weighs 2 pounds. It is polished and has new tinning. It has some typical  scratch/use marks customary for all antique copper cookware. Not only is it a rare size, but I suspect that it is one of only a few signed “Tait’s” cookware pieces that exist today.
