    Description

Polish 19th Century Military Uniform Coat, Badly Faded - Reproduction
→ This item is faded, please read description and view all photos. ←
This military uniform coat came from Poland, and I was told it was made for a Polish historical movie. A Google search convinces me that it represents a Duchy of Warsaw uniform, but perhaps you know better.
Made of strong olive-green wool or cotton, the chest and sleeves are lined with a green satiny material. The bottom tails are turned over and stitched together at the edges. It fastens with nine hooks from collar to waist. The metal buttons are all decorative. I've taken pictures of it both unfastened and fastened.
While the coat displays well from the front,
there is serious fading on the sleeve sides and the back; see all the pictures.
Apparently it was displayed for a long time with those areas exposed to strong light. There are no holes or rips or moth damage. The coat can't be worn in this condition, but it could be displayed against a wall, positioning it so none of the fading shows.
I unstitched a small section of the lining inside the upper left sleeve to check the back of the faded material. The back is unfaded; see the last picture. I've left it unstitched so you can see for yourself. If you are handy with a sewing machine, the faded sections could be disassembled, then the material flipped inside out and reassembled, and it would be good as new. It would take some time, but I think it would be well worth the effort.
    Measurements:
    Neck: 19 inches around
    Chest: 18 inches across
Length: 39 inches from top of collar to bottom
Sleeve length: 30 inches from shoulder hem (I am 5'7" and the sleeves cover my hands, though they can be pulled up)
