    Description

This auction includes an original 2.50 carat STUNNING European cut 20's era diamond from my own grandmother's estate and two settings which will be described in detail. The original diamond was placed into a more modern setting in the 80s because I preferred the gold with my skin tone as opposed to the platinum setting which my grandmother wore. The setting I picked out was huge, thick, heavy, sturdy and set the diamond way up above the finger to show it off more whereas the platinum setting was set lower. Many people who admired this ring stated that it was the perfect weapon being that it was so heavy that it could do quite some damage. The gold setting has six huge prongs whereas the platinum one has four smaller ones. The gold setting is marked 14KP (plumb gold) and ML (author or artist) it contains 14 full cut diamonds nearly .04 carats each along with baguettes lining the top edge making an additional 1 carat weight of diamonds added to the 2.50 original center stone. So now we are at 3.50 carat weight. Along with this I am also adding the antique original platinum setting so that you may pick whichever you prefer to display this brilliant and huge diamond. The original platinum setting is stamped Irid. Plat. and it includes 4 full cut diamonds adding nearly a quarter carat of diamonds to your 3.50 carat weight making the total weight of your diamonds nearly 3.75 carats. A cubic zirconia was added to the original platinum setting in the 80s, it added no value to this sale or to the setting but allowed me to occasionally wear the platinum ring. The specifics of the 2.50 carat European cut 20s era diamond are listed below, set by the American Gem Society in 1948. Copies of the original appraisal and two others, 1965 and 1978 will also be included in the sale.

It was explained to me by the jeweler that the larger the diamond the harder it is to find a perfectly clear stone. There may be inclusions which are like birthmarks and these are part of the natural process and help in identifying your diamond much the way birthmarks are used in identifying people. Never leave your diamond unattended. Stones can be easily and quickly replaced. When I set this stone into the new setting I was taken to the city with a personal driver and sat by the jeweler through the entire process to eliminate the possibility of the stone being replaced by an inferior one.
I changed the shipping option to protect myself as I started to think about standing by my motto of never leaving your diamond unattended...I now have it set to pick up locally so that I am always able to keep eyes on this beautiful diamond. Meeting somewhere is also an option. I don’t mind flying to your location. Let’s talk, you won’t be disappointed!
