Group of thirty-two 19th century business letters and notes containing orders sent to a hardware store in Macon, Georgia by businesses and individuals in small towns in Houston County. Henderson, Houston Factory, Byron, Haynesville, Denard and Powersville are the named towns. Sending orders and merchandise via train was how business was conducted between Macon and Houston County. The group dates from the 1850's to the 1880's. Some pieces in the group are soiled. They were stored in top floor of the Macon hardware store for over 100 years and show some dirt and soot stains.
