Description
This pan is stamped on the bottom: JOS. HEINRICHS PARIS + NEW YORK PURE COPPER STERLING SILVER THE BILTMORE. It is 9” long, without brass handles; 5 1/2” wide; 3 1/4” high; and weighs 3 7/8 pounds. It presents well; is polished, and the pan was re-tinned and is usable. It has one small shallow dent on the edge of the lid. It also has a number of scratches and little dings, especially around the bottom area, often seen on hotel cookware which received considerable use. The pan was produced circa 1913-1920s. The Biltmore, located at Madison & Vanderbilt Avenues, opened in 1913. In its heyday, it was one of the most fashionable hotels in the country, hosting royalty and such frequent guests as Ginger Rogers, Judy Garland, and Bing Crosby. It comes with an old post card of The Biltmore (see photo). Jos. Heinrichs cookware, produced 1897-1937, is among the highest quality antique cookware that you can purchase.
