Description
Up for your consideration is a primitive copper funnel. It looks to me that it may have been used on an old time still but I do not know for sure. It appears to be homemade with the center of funnel having the copper plate with holes in it to allow finer material to pass through. The top rim of the funnel appears to have been hand formed and turned over to the back. Looks like hammer marks from the process. There are areas of solder , as pictured, dents, some areas that have a blackish appearance, perhaps from the heating of the still, and awesome patina. The funnel measures about 14 inches in diameter at the top. It measures about 15 inches to bottom of the copper elbow on the bottom of the funnel. The horizontal part of the elbow measures about 12 1/2 inches in length as pictured. The threaded fixture at the end of the elbow appears to be brass.
A fantastic piece of history, whatever it was used for, and super display piece for a bar, game room or in the kitchen. Great conversation piece.
