Availability: 50 in stock
  • Category: Original Signed Framed Artwork
  • Original/Reproduction: Original
  • Country Of Manufacture: United States
  • Country/Region of Manufacture: United States
  • Condition: Newly Archivally Matted and Framed. The artwork itself is as you see it. There is one “flaw” in the piece but it actually is part of the history of the piece as well as looking like it is an intended part of the work. Along the top edge of the work there is a light stain extending down a couple of inches through the middle of the words “Love Songs". I personally did not realize that this was not an intended part of the work as it basically fits in with the look and feel of the piece. The Artist told me that when the piece was delivered to “Uncle Ken” (also the founder of TMOQ Records) it, perhaps obviously, did not have the stain but when it was returned… apparently either in the process of setting the art up to print or, who knows, it was damaged. He says he never really bothered getting his art back from them after that. At any rate, certainly still historically significant and, as I’ve said, you wouldn’t really know it was a flaw if you didn’t know.

    DESCRIPTION
Original, one of a kind, Artist Signed, Archivally Framed Artwork as used on The Amazing Kornyfone Record Label Bootleg release #2922 Bob Dylan “Love Songs For America - Cast Off Lungs + Retouched Badlands”. Ink and Ink Wash on Art Board by Artist H. David Webb aka Roy N. Oak. Done as an homage to the Dylan painted cover for his 1974 “Planet Waves” album. The actual album (which is not included here) is mostly from a 1974 Concert in Miami, Florida. The album artwork was printed in several variations. I have included pictures of some of these but, again, these are not included in the auction. I believe that the original issues are the “Rainbow” colored covers (last picture) which pretty much destroys the whole idea of it being a take off of “Planet Waves”.
The Artwork measures approx. 12” x 12”, roughly 18” x 19” in it’s frame. It has been archivally matted and simply framed. It is signed by the Artist on the back which also is matted and covered. Included is a Notarized, Signed Certificate Of Authenticity.
The Artist, H. David Webb, produced the Artwork for several other TAKRL record releases (and other TAKRL offshoot labels) but, unlike Stout and some other more famous artists, was never credited under his own name. For reasons unknown his works were credited to Roy N. Oak. Other works he is known to have done include TAKRL 1903, 1906, 1911, 2924, 1928, 1972, 1974, 2982, 1984 and BOZO1 as well as the SODD001 release on the Singer’s Original DDOUb2eDiSKK label. He was also responsible for TAKRL 1980 but that was never issued with his original art. He also believes that his art was used for other issues on offshoot labels but, as he was never paid and in many cases did not receive copies of the releases, he has no record of those.
This is an Original, One Of A Kind piece of Art and, therefore, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity for the Bob Dylan fan or completist!

    TERMS AND DEFINITIONS
I stand by my grades but would like us to be on the same page so no problems arise. I have been selling Vintage Vinyl for over twenty years on the net and I can count the returns I've had on one hand so I believe my grading is fair and accurate. One important note, I try to grade to these Goldmine guides as best as I can understand and apply them. This gives us both a written standard to go by rather than having to guess. But.... it also means that I don't issue refunds over differences of opinion in grading i.e. "That's not MY idea of a VG record!" - I don't know what your standards are and, as such, can't grade to them. I guarantee that items I sell will meet my description, nothing more or less! If you are not satisfied that a purchase meets my description, I will do what I can to make it right if you give me the chance and work with me! Please feel free to check my feedback.
