Description

Hammered copper vase with spherical body, short neck and flaring mouth, made in Santa Clara del Cobre in the state of Michoacan, Mexico. Labor intensive copper hammering technique starts with a single lump of copper that is hammered into a desired shape, so there are no seams or joinery on the piece. Beautifully made in Arts and Crafts style, elegant shape, great patina, in excellent condition. Stamped on the bottom by initials of the artist Antonio Castro Hdz, MEX for Mexico and the year in which the vase was made. Height 2 3/8 inches, maximum diameter 2 3/4 inches.
