Description
Vintage hammered copper vase in cylindrical shape with wide open mouth made in Santa Clara del Cobre in the state of Michoacan, Mexico. Labor intensive copper hammering technique starts with a single lump of copper that is hammered into a desired shape, so there are no seams or joinery on the piece. Beautifully made in Arts and Crafts style, elegant shape inspired by a piece in Frank Lloyd Wright’s private collection which was originally created in 1909 by a Russian coppersmith, superb reddish patina, in excellent condition. The base is marked with “Cobre vessel” mark and signed inside it by Ramon Ramirez who won numerous gold medals awarded in competitions around the country and is represented in the Museo Nacional del Cobre. Height 4 3/4 inches.
