    Notable Features:
This ring was handmade during the Art Nouveau era. Composed of 14k yellow gold, the ring features a beautiful turquoise stone with a floral-like design. The use of the elegant floral-like motifs in this piece is an excellent example of the styles of jewelry popular during this period. This era saw jewelers turning away from the more elaborate and ornate jewelry designs of the preceding Victorian era and toward sophisticated jewelry inspired by simpler designs and the natural world, as can be seen in this ring.
The ring has a floral-like outline giving the appearance of the stone being the center of a flower. This design is classic to the arts and craft movement during the Art Nouveau era. Pieces from this era concentrate on nature using floral and leaf designs and would all be crafted by hand to reject the heavy industrial world around them. The ring also features four double hooped designs coming from the back of the ring to the edge of the bezel setting; this highlights the beauty of the stone and creates a new dimension to the ring.
The large center turquoise stone contains a light and darker green hue with dark brown veining. The cabochon cut of the stone allows for a prominent display of its eye-catching color. The stone rests securely in a yellow gold bezel setting, which enhances the turquoise stone with its beautiful green hues that beautifully contrast with the warm tone of the gold.
The ring's 14k yellow gold thick band is smooth and polished for comfortable wear. A classic example of jewelry from the arts and craft movement of the Art Nouveau era, this ring would make a valuable addition to any antique jewelry collection. Don't miss your chance to preserve this piece of cultural history.
    Damage:
Age appropriate wear. There are small surface scratches to the stone but this is hard to notice and the stone still has a smooth and polished feel to it.

    The History
The Art Nouveau era, 1890-1910, was also called "La Belle Epoque" in French, which translates to "A Beautiful Time.”  This was very true due to the gorgeous designs that came out of this period.  This era focused on women and the beauty of nature and the pieces were often large. Enamel was a common material used in Art Nouveau jewelry as the period was more about the importance of the design over the materials used to create it. The Art Nouveau period happened before the start of the first World War, when mass manufacturing took over the production of many products, including some jewelry.
The Arts and Crafts movement began after the Victorian era and is generally viewed to coincide with the Art Nouveau era. Both movements were a vast departure from the jewelry styles of the Victorian era and emphasized a shift away from industrialization. Especially important in both Art Nouveau and Arts and Crafts designs was the desire to create jewelry that reflected the beauty and wonder of nature.
Although Arts and Crafts jewelry can be very similar to Art Nouveau jewelry, some distinct differences can be used to help tell them apart. Arts and Craft jewelry often used metals such as copper, aluminum, and silver. Stones were usually semi-precious and cut into cabochons rather than being faceted. Pearls were very popular, with an emphasis on using ones with unique, natural shapes.
A major emphasis of the Arts and Crafts Movement was creating every piece by hand as a way of rejecting mechanization and industrialization. Every detail was painstakingly created by hand, with details such as leaves and flowers, being made separately and soldered onto a piece one by one. This created beautifully and intricately designed pieces of jewelry.
Turquoise is found all over the world and has been a popular semi-precious stone used in jewelry and art for thousands of years by many different cultures; from prehistoric times to the present. Turquoise comes in many beautiful color variations; from the popular bright solid sky-blue hues to dark blue hues with dark spiderwebbing throughout, as well as aqua, teal, and many green varieties, and even some rare white with dark spiderwebbing.
