Notable Features:
The ring was handmade during the Art Deco era. Composed of 14k yellow gold, this ring features beautiful saltwater Akoya pearls and a floral style. This ring is an excellent example of the jewelry that was popular during the Art Deco era, which saw wealthy socialites and aristocrats donning bold, eye-catching jewelry to wear to Gatsby-style parties and other formal evening events. Lustrous, rare stones, like the pearl in this ring, were especially fashionable and a sure way to grab the attention of fellow party attendees.
The focal point of the ring is its three beautiful saltwater Akoya pearls which adorn the ring's face. These pearls showcase white hues and a beautiful luster that appears as light moves across the pearls' round body. After being hand-harvested off the coast of Japan, the pearls would have been imported to be made into jewelry. The pearls rest securely in fancy yellow gold cap settings, the vibrant tone of the yellow gold a lovely contrast to the white hue of the pearl. Each pearl was placed on the ring's face in a row and in a graduated design, with the largest pearl at one end of the ring. The pearls also appear to rest within floral motifs, nestled among elegant curling petals and leaves. With the lustrous pearls and attractive floral motif, this ring would have been the perfect accessory for the flapper-style dresses and pearl necklaces of the era.
The 14k yellow gold shoulders of the ring flow into the smooth and polished band for comfortable wear. The generous amount of 14k yellow gold in the piece gives it an impressive item weight value of 0. A classic example of
Gatsby-style jewelry from the Art Deco era, this ring would make a valuable addition to any antique jewelry collection. Don't miss your chance to preserve this piece of cultural history.
Damage:
Age appropriate wear. Several areas of the ring could use a gentle cleaning to remove a minor build-up of grime. There is patina on some areas of the yellow gold, which does not affect wear. One pearl is a bit matte and has some wear to its nacre at the top of the pearl; however, this does not affect wear, and the pearl can be re-polished by your local jeweler.

The History
The Art Deco era is famous for being the "Gatsby" or "Roaring Twenties" era. A lot of gorgeous and timeless designs in jewelry came out of this period. Jewelry from this period was most often crafted between 1920 and 1940. Art Deco jewelry sometimes featured white gold or platinum, geometric designs, European cut diamonds, filigree, and calibre cut stones that are specifically cut to fit the design of the piece. During the Art Deco period jewelers often made jewelry upon custom order, this would often take weeks to months to completely craft by hand.
Akoya saltwater pearls are cultured from the Akoya oyster and can be found primarily in Japan and China. They are known for their beautiful round shape and exquisite luster that sets them apart from many other types of pearls. They are usually white or cream in color but can have rose or silver undertones. During the Art Deco era, Akoya pearls were rare, expensive to own, and reserved for the richest of the rich.
