stone
is a classic example of the styles of jewelry popular during the Art Deco era, which saw wealthy socialites and aristocrats donning bold jewelry to wear to Gatsby-style parties and formal events. Jewelry worn during this time period was created to make a statement and draw attention to the wearer, and this piece, with its eye-catching stone, is no exception.
The spinel stone measures 2.09 carats and is a rich blue in hue, as well as semi-translucent, which allows light to filter through its body and illuminate its color. To keep the stone secure, it rests in a yellow gold bezel setting, the vibrancy of the gold a lovely contrast to the deep blue of the spinel.
Surrounding the stone is a circular border accented with two round bead accents, which add a lovely touch of detail to the overall design. Completing the ring is a smooth, polished band for a comfortable fit when worn. A classic example of Gatsby-style jewelry from the Art Deco era, this ring would make a valuable addition to any antique jewelry collection.
Don't miss your chance to preserve this piece of cultural history.
Damage:
Age appropriate wear. There are minor scratches on the face of the stone; however, this does not affect wear.

The History
T
he Art Deco era is famous for being the "Gatsby" or "Roaring Twenties" era. A lot of gorgeous and timeless designs in jewelry came out of this period. Jewelry from this period was most often crafted between 1920 and 1940. Art Deco jewelry sometimes featured white gold or platinum, geometric designs, European cut diamonds, filigree, and calibre cut stones that are specifically cut to fit the design of the piece. During the Art Deco period jewelers often made jewelry upon custom order, this would often take weeks to months to completely craft by hand.
Spinel is a mineral which comes in the colors of various shades of pink, rose, red, blue, green, yellow, brown, black, and violet. These stones are often semi-translucent and glorious colors. In fact, for much of their early history before the dawn of modern science red spinel stones were considered rubies due to their similar luster and hue. Spinel stones have a shockingly vast amount of colors and are highly sought after.
