ABOUT:
Beautiful old amethyst ring in 18k gold with beautiful purple amethyst set in a flush / gypsy setting with domed band.  Such a lovely piece from the Jugendstil / Art Nouveau to Art Deco period.  The stone cut is interesting in that the top is flat cut with small facets along the side and the underside of the stone is faceted, so it reflects light from the back of the stone and is really fun to look into in the light, almost like looking into a kaleidascope. : ) I just love it so if it doesn't sell well, it will be added to my personal collection.
This is an antique piece that I acquired in Europe. As such it is marked with their numerical hallmarking system, in this case 750 for 18k gold. Amethyst tested accurately as garnet on my Presidium gem tester.
SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
Size 8, a tiny bit under on the ring sizer mandrel.   The amethyst is about 7mm by 5mm. It weighs 2.7 grams so not a super heavy hand feel.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
This estate piece was used and enjoyed by its previous owner.  Some scuffs to the facet edge of the flat cut stone, noticeable in direct light or when you study it up close in a bright reflection.  Stone is secure.  Surface wear to the gold band but still nicely shaped.
It presents nicely but due to age - please note this is not a mint condition item.
Like all antique jewelry, please handle these rings with care.  I don't see any issues, but I just always recommend special occasion and gentle wear on these very old pieces and to avoid getting them wet.
