    Description

Large bean pot purchased in late 70's in Cairo.  Very old primitive cauldron that shows wear, thick layers of soot from fire cooking and dents from it's long history of use and travel around the world.  Measures 18"h x 18.5"wide at handles, mouth is 5" dia. inside opening. Hand wrought copper mixed with other metals appearing bronze, silver and brass tones, hammered texture and welds, weighs 22 lbs, massive bronze handles.  Have used as an artifact display sitting on hearth and fitted as a table lamp (see living room pic).  Warm patina and displays well from either side (in fact, I had it mounted with the dented side as the front of the lamp).   Google " Dirk Van Erp Bean Pot Boudoir Lamps " and you'll see those fashioned after this ancient silhoutte form, though they are much smaller with no handles.
