    Description

This oval copper saute/fry pan is 13 3/4” length, excluding handle; 20 3/4”, including handle; 9” wide; 1 1/4” high; and weighs 3 1/2 pounds. A high quality piece made by the respected D H & M  (Duparquet, Huot & Moneuse), it was used during the early years at The Plaza, the opulent New York hotel that opened in 1907. This pan was heavily used as evidenced by the wearing off of letters. Specifically,  only LAZ of PLAZA is clear (see photo). The maker’s name, D H & M, under the handle is faint. And a tiny W. 22 are the only remaining letters that help to further identify the maker (the address for D H & M in 1917 was 108 W. 22). This pan was polished and lacquered many years ago and should not be used. Rather, someone who  collects antique hotel/restaurant cookware, and/or someone who wishes a very early piece of history from the iconic The Plaza, should be interested in this pan. The fact is that very few early pieces of The Plaza cookware such as this one exist today. It comes with an early post card of The Plaza (see photo).
