Letter from a Schoolboy in Lavaca, Texas. Lavaca, Texas: Circa 1880s. 4to, 1pp letter from (J.D. Crane?) to Master J.F. Poindexter, a former schoolfriend. The letter appears to be dated in the 1880s, from Lavaca, Texas. The author reminisces about fun times with his old friend, writes about an enemy in school nicknamed "bigfoot," and reports some local gossip: "I am still going to school to old Bigfoot we have never had fight yet but if he ever goes to whip me I will fight him like the devil...we never have any fun here...I will miss you I have never had any eggnog since you left you remember the night we sit up all night I have quit drinking whiskey I drink ice lemonade all the time." Creased, toned, chipped, separations and holes to letter with loss.  [8260]
