    Description

1872 Milford Delaware letter, Newspaper Printer Kirk, Farmers Bank check 1899. A great piece of Kent county Delaware history. In 1872 a few years after the Civil War, R Phelps writes to James B Kirk about hard times and people feeling poor and how difficult it is to obtain new subscriptions to the paper. Names include John Corsey, James Short, Dr. Thomas Cahall, Fowler, Clark, Redifer. Also included is a Farmers bank check 1899 from James B Kirk, including the 1898 hand cancelled document stamp. Looks like his business survived the Hard Times as the check is twenty seven years later. Please check out my other Delaware items Happy bidding!
